This past Sunday we celebrated my dad's 87th Birthday! My mind had been working on how to decorate for it for a couple of weeks. I went to Joann's Fabrics to look for a remnant that looked "masculine" and found this plaid fabric~only $1.79 on clearance!! THEN I thought of the tie idea (see my Met Monday post) for the napkin rings.
I 'shopped' from my house and gathered up vintagey-masculine props for the center piece.
Here is the back side of the centerpiece. I have a collection of cabinet cards, and gathered all the pictures of men...
Close up of the backside...
At first I had pictures of men under each fork..Steve thought of the bright idea to use women's pics for the women's placesetting!! Brilliant man, my husband!
For place cards, I just typed out everyone's name in a cool font, printed it out on card stock and cut 'ribbons' with decorative sissors, then looped them thru the forks.
My dad was just tickled~ my step-bro and step-sis were able to attend, along with our friends of many years, Bill and Judy. And my step-mom, Leilani, of course!
I had such fun putting all this together!
Happy Birthday, Dad!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments on m blog. Itis so nice to meet a new friend. I popped over here to look at yours. It is exquisite! I love your Dad's birthday tablescape. I'm such a fan of old sepia photographs. Your 1944 bride was also a particular favorite.

I love that plaid fabric. Perfect for a masculine look. What a wonderful celebration for your dad's birthday! Your collection of memorabilia in the center is wonderful. (I don't think I know what "cabinet" cards are). I'm going to have to research that. I know your dad was so pleased to see all of your lovely decor for his b'dy. Belated Happy Birthday to your Dad! laurie
ReplyDeleteGreat table! Very inspirational. Congrats on the win from Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteHello! Lovely table setting for Dad, and so nice that he appreciated it too! I am *sigh* slightly jealous tho' of your silverware -- I am collecting this s-l-o-w-l-y, have mostly just spoons. Two spoons from my Grandma started it. But really, I'm very happy to see how you used it, and wish many blessings for your dad and you too! Have a great day! Elaine
