A Bride in 1944...

I just wanted to share with you a sweet little scrapbook I picked up at an antique store awhile back.. (you can click on each picture for a larger view)
A young bride in 1944 probably couldn't afford a fancy bridal book, so she made her own, using clippings from magazines..

It was just so poignant and sweet, I couldn't resist it!

I just imagine her, as a new bride, eagerly setting up house, learning new recipes for her new husband!

And the back was covered in this bird motif paper. Anyway, just wanted to share this sweet booklet with you!
And for this weekend:

I certainly will!!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for all the well-wishes and sharing my joy of our little blessing that's on her way!!
TTFN!! (Ta Ta For Now)

  1. What a great book and what a wonderful work of love it was for someone. Thanks for sharing.

  2. what an awesome find!!! I wonder why no one in the family wanted to cherish it the way you do? sometimes going into a thrift shop and seeing signs that someone's loved one passed...and no one wanted the keepsakes that should mean so much, just makes me sad.
I'm glad the little book found a home with someone who appreciates it!

  3. Can you imagine the excitement she felt creating this wonderful keepsake? Oh she was probably beside herself in love! :0) I just love the way things were back then! It's more special because she created it and it wasn't just whipped up on a computer or something. Glad it has found its home with you and that it's getting the appreciation it deserves! Smiles! :0)

  4. That is really sweet Myrna.....I have scrapbooks made like that from my great aunts....not wedding...just favorite picture. People back then, who didn't have so much used what they had and reused it! A lost art in some ways and yet being revived through people like you and I who appreciate the "old stuff" more than the new! By the envelope of love is in the mail to you! Toni

  5. Myrna,
What a great find! I am crazy about old paper, anything! Looks like our little girls will be two months apart to the day. My son and his wife's little girl is due Oct 15. Congradulations! By-the- by, Your wish is my house is in progress.
    My Best,

  6. That is just such a sweet book! So glad you rescued it. laurie

  7. What a sweet book to find. Too bad that someone parted with it as it was such a sweet bit of family history. But you will cherish it and that is all that matters now.

  8. What a treasure!
Congratulations on the granddaughter! What happy news. :)

  9. What a wonderful find! Something like that always makes me wonder if someone will find something I've made (years from now) and think the same things! :D
