Welcome to Vignette Friday hosted by the very talented Artie at Color Outside the Lines!
Since you were all so gracious and kind about my confession to not changing my fireplace mantle display in almost a year, I shall now admit to another table vignette that has graced our coffee table for several months as well! LOL! ;-)
One of the features in this vignette is the darling baby picture of my now 88 year old father, my mother had gold leafed the frame it sits in at least 30 years ago, and I love how it fits so well with our style.
This cloche fits perfectly in this candle holder I picked up at a garage sale. Featured in the cloche is a framed piece of tatting that my grandmother did when she was a young girl. This treasure was also a work of my mom's.
I featured this particular music from an old songbook out of my collection. It was a song my mother used to sing to me when I was a little girl. Even tho my mom's been gone for 19 years, I can still hear her singing it in my head and it always comforts me. :-)
This sweet little silver pot I found at the thrift store...I love the little birdie on the side and it's engraved with the saying 'Best Wishes'. Does anyone know what it was used for?
Here is the view with the mantle in the background..Oh! And underneath the glass on the coffee table is an old tapestry I picked up at a garage sale...love the colors and victorian-ness feel it has!!
"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." {William Morris}
Love it all! Great quote by Morris too. That will be my mantra for the day.
ReplyDeleteLoving that quote too! And those pieces are soo beautiful ~ I think it makes it that much more special when there's a story or sentimental value behind something.
ReplyDeleteHi Myrna,
ReplyDeleteYour vignette is just beautiful and I love the sheet music that brings back such sweet memories.
I've no idea what the little silver pot might have been used for, except maybe it held a small flower arrangement at one time.
Hugs, Susan
Sigh,,,I think I am going to cry now...how beautiful this post is,,I do get you, like you get me. Your home is so elegant and warm, how blessed you are.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless!
