'Been dinkin' around the house today and thought I'd snap a few pics of a new vignette in the sitting room.
I love cloches and love to amuse myself by finding things of interest to display in them. ;-)
Set inside this little silverplate tray (a garage sale find) is a silver brush (another garage sale find)
an ATC card that I made as a placecard and neat old spoon set in a flower frog. Behind that is a framed sample of tatting that my grandmother made when she was a young girl.
My friend, Toni, gave me this old songbook and I was thrilled to find this song it:
"Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms". It was a song my mother used to sing to me when I was a little girl. I always requested it, saying, "Sing me the Charm Song, Mama!!"
I also got this darling little treasure at the thrift!! It has "Best Wishes" engraved on it. Does anyone know what it is and what it was used for?
Picture of my Dad as a little boy, along with a small beaded purse and a glass doorknob. Things with really no rhyme or reason, just put together for the fun of it!
The view if you're sitting on the loveseat.
Just wanted to share of bit of my day with you. It's cloudy and gloomy and cold here. I think I'll light the fire and have a cup of tea. Wish you could come over and join me!
Oh, thank you for inviting me in. Your vignette is just beautiful, and so full of meaning. I just love it all. Old things are so full of stories, and mean something different to each person. You surely have a way with putting things together! Hugs from Sherry
ReplyDeleteok now you know I am just drooling all over the place about your vignette and that gorgeous cloche. I so hope you will save this pic and put it in the "Cloche Party" coming up on the 19th of Feb. Your whole vignette is just wonderful and you have some of the pretties things that all seem to go together just beautifully. BTW, I love that song too. So perfect. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteLove your cloche arrangement and so glad you are enjoying the music book. I knew you would be the perfect friend to appreciate it! I wonder if the "Best Wishes" pot was a wedding gift? Anyway.....fun to see what you created! Love, Toni
ReplyDeletePS: I'm working on making a mosaic tray for the "new" guestroom!
The little silver piece looks like a desktop spatoon~ probably given as a gift to a lawyer or judge.
