Metamorphosis Monday~Mantle

Welcome to Met Monday where our lovely Susan is hosting at Between Naps on the Porch!

I hadn't meant to be away from blogland this long...it's just that when we put our Christmas decorations away, I didn't want to just re-decorate, I wanted to transform some rooms! I am limited on how much furniture rearranging I can do, so I changed things up a bit with accessories. I just 'shopped' from other places in my home and in cabinets where I had stashed some things for such a day as this! ;-)

My blank slate..the sitting room mantle after the Christmas garland came down. I wanted a warm, homey, old English look, and thought of the movie "Out of Africa"~and there was my inspiration!

The plant came from the master bedroom, books from the family room,

The blue platter from the kitchen cupboard, wicker basket from my studio, small pictures that had been stashed away..the round gold framed on was my mom's. It's an etching she matted with blue velvet.

I changed out the shade on this lamp and added a vintage earring at the top~yep, that's right, it's an earring!! Isn't it huge? ;-)  The little blue teapot is yet another gift from bff Laura. The mercury glass candle holders were after Christmas sale~$1.50 a piece!!

I  used a scrap of fabric that I just loved, and I liked the frayed edges to add the 'worn' look to the whole vignette!
Be sure to visit Between Naps on the Porch for other wonderful transformations!

Have a great day!
