Tablescape Tuesday

Hi! I've ventured back into blogland long enough to participate in Tablescape Tuesday, hosted by Susan at Between Naps On The Porch.
About two months ago I found this topiary at the thrift store and knew I wanted to use it through the holidays.
I had two separate Thanksgiving dinners at our house this year, and, still recovering from a sprained ankle, decided to make it as simple as possible. So I (GASP) used paper plates.

The turkey platter was another thrift store find as was the fabric. I just folded it under and pressed the hem in. Simple.

The water goblets are antique and were passed on to me after my mother died. As a little girl I remember her throwing beautiful dinner parties and she ALWAYS used those water goblets.
The wine glasses I painted several years ago--surrounding vines with berries and pine cones--they always come out in the fall and are used through the winter.
For place cards I fashioned ATC's with each person's first initial on them, for them to take home..I just set them on the 'plate' for everyone to discover where they would sit.

So there's my little entry....check out Between Naps On The Porch for more beautiful tablescapes!!
I have to go to Physical Therapy two times a week for my ankle--I guess the ligaments and muscle is pretty messed up. The PT said it could take 3 Months for it to heal!! Yeegads! I would appreciate prayer for a speedier healing...
I've been slowwwly decorating for Christmas--Courtney's been a big help and has done a fabulous job in the family room as well as the Christmas Tree. I'll post pics soon. I'm thinking of participating in the holiday Hooked On Houses tour on Dec 15th.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

  2. Dear Myrna- Thanks for the enjoyable tour of your table-setting & for all the great info, too! You did so much to make it all SPECIAL, and I ADMIRE you for being "SMART ENOUGH" to use those cute paper plates, cutting down on more heavy work for you while you are healing! It will be DIFFICULT, I KNOW (from recent experience!) to actually SLOW DOWN & REST til all HEALS CORRECTLY, but you MUST, my friend!!! Let everyone wait on YOU, for once... you know, "PRETEND you're a MAN", as my fun n' funny Mom used to say!!! (Chuckles!!!). Season's blessings, Linda

  7. So much to say, okay, I broke my ankle two years ago and it was probably one of the worst experiences of my life for a variety of reasons. I was told at the time that a sprain is worse - takes longer to heal. I will keep you in my prayers. One word of advice - listen to what they tell you to do because they have seen more sprained ankles than you and they know what they are talking about. I followed their instructions exactly and it turned out for me, timewise, just as they indicated.

Next, paper plates on gold chargers!!! I love it!!! Your table is stunning! That topiary is to die for. Everything is just gorgeous. It is just the style I love and am trying to work towards. I'm very impressed! Beautiful, beautiful home you have. Oh and I really love the placecards. Very nice and creative!

Hang in there. Time heals all wounds!!!

  8. I loved seeing your beautiful Thanksgiving table. I love the topiary centerpiece.

I look forward to seeing you at Julia's open house.

Hope your PT goes well. J just completed PT on a shoulder problem (pinched nerve) we believe happened when he had cancer surgery last spring. Had no idea what was going on when his arm began to shrink! We were told this happens with a pinched nerve.
