One of the (many) blessings of having a blog is all the new friends one can make when participating in a 'blog party'. Artie from Color Outside the Lines found me by way of Susan at Between Naps on the Porch Tablescape Party and invited me to participate in his new endeavor 'Vignette Friday'. I would have never known about his fabulous blog had he not commented in mine. You MUST visit him...he is extremely talented and shares wonderful interior decorating ideas!
So for Vignette Friday, I thought I'd show you the change in our bookshelves in our family room.
Here is the before:
And here is the after:
More simpler and streamlined and, oh yes..more books! ;-)
This old typewriter is set in with pictures of my mom in her wedding dress..Steve's parents that says 'lovers' on the back ;-), and a vintage type pic of our youngest son, Caleb.
I've started collecting antique wine glasses..the green ones are new, tho..a 50th birthday present to Steve and me from our sister-in-law. The silver tray was a recent garage sale find for $2.00!!!
I like books set every-which-way, instead of all stacked in a row..I think it makes it more interesting to look at.
It gives our family room more of a homey and cozy feel..I got two thumbs up from the other members of the household, also!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
You are TOOOOO Sweet! I mean it! Thank you for all of those super kind words about me and the blog! I hope we can become good blog buddies! :) THANK YOU so much for participating this week. I love the transformation of your bookshelves, and the cabinet itself! WOWZA what a great piece of furniture - and you've done it up perfectly! BRAVA! xoxoxo, Artie
ReplyDeleteI really love the change in the bookshelves, it looks so pretty!!! What a buy on that silver tray, and your antique glasses looks so gorgeous on it!!! Love the family pictures setting in the typewritter keys, what a clever ideal! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!! hugs~~~ Daphne
ReplyDeleteThe cases look beautiful. I love all of your vintage books. Good Job!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece of furniture!! Love the collection of old books...well done!
ReplyDeleteVery nice -- book shelves are so much fun and it's nice to have memory things rather than store things!
ReplyDeleteEditing always makes for a better presentation, and your end result definitely achieved that. Your built-ins look very nice. How sweet to have vintage photos of the parentals. Like the book pages as the backdrop for the shelves, too. :-)

ReplyDeleteOh this is just stunning. The bookcases are a fabulous, fabulous framing for your gorgeous treasures. Doesn't get any better than old books, silver, crystal, antiques and photos, does it?? That typewriter vignette is dreamy. I love your treasures and the change you made!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
