Tabletop Tuesday and Tablecloth Love

Well, I am sharing a two-fer post today...Tabletop Tuesday hosted by the lovely Marty at A Stroll Thru Life and the thoughtfulness of a gal that's a co-worker of my husband's. First, I just started my fall decorating and this display  above was just me messing around..not sure if I'm going to keep it this way, or lose the candle, or add a bigger candle. Sometimes you have to decorate something and then just walk away from it for awhile, and tweak it when you come back~ya know what I mean?
Okay, now about my husband's coworker. When Steve came home one day last week he said his coworker, Georgian, had called him telling him that she'd had a couple of tablecloths and a few doilies that her mother and grandmother had made (be still, my heart). It wasn't her style, she said, but wondered if I'd be interested because she reads my blog (blush) and thought they'd work in my house. My sweet husband, knowing me so well, said that I would LOVE them...so she delivered them to him at work. The one in the above pic fits PERFECTLY on my table in the formal dining room..isn't it exquisite?? And made by hand!!!

This runner I set on the buffet in the kitchen and will show it again with a fall display soon!

And a ROUND one for our kitchen table! I was so tickled to get a beautiful crochet round!!
Also tucked inside were these lovely doilies. Thank you so much, Georgian, for entrusting me with your heirlooms of your mother's and your grandmother's! I will use them and treasure them and am so delighted and honored that you thought of me!! Blessings to you!!

  1. How thrilling to get such beautiful handmade pieces! That round tablecloth is especially stunning! I am like you -- I have to try things and tweak them for a while until I'm satisfied. And isn't it interesting how you can see what's needed after seeing a photo of an arrangement?

  2. Beautiful pieces, every single one of them, but the large dining table cloth is my favourite. Can you imagine the hundreds of hours that must have gone into making it?

  3. What a beautiful gift. I can only imagine the time and skill that went into creating those table cloths. The large one on your dining room table is my favorite and I can just picture it all decorated for christmas. It looks like a blanket of perfectly formed snowflakes fell on your table. I hope to see it again; say mid-December?

  8. Oh, those are gorgeous. How I love crocheted tablecloths and doilies. I have some that my grandmothers have done, and I have some that I have done. A lot of love and work went into yours. I am so glad you have them. Found you at ASTL/Tabletop Tuesday.
