"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting - a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing."

"In your life's journey, there will be excitement and fulfillment, boredom and routine, and even the occasional train wreck.... but when you have picked a dream that is bigger than you personally, that truly reflects the ideals that you cherish, and that can positively affect others, then you will always have another reason for carrying on." "For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don't enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you're not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn't going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness."

Tabletop Design

When Sandy was over helping me with my sitting room, we also had a little fun with the formal dining room.

I had shown her a magazine picture of a centerpiece that was 'framed' with all sorts of glittery, sparkly goodies and we went to work...

After layering the table with oodles of lace tablecloths, (think Magnolia Pearl),
I supplied an empty frame I'd had and set it in the middle of the table. We collected anything shiny, sparkly, white, silver, gold, and glass  from around the house and plunked it inside the frame. Well, maybe not exactly plunked..there was some arranging involved! LOL!

Anyway, I am so pleased with the outcome.... so whimsical and fun..just like Sandy!! ;-)

Centerpiece Tutorial

As promised (about a month ago! :-p ) I thought I'd give a little tutorial on how I made the centerpieces for Steve's retirement party. It'd also be great to use for baby or wedding showers or birthday parties.
The supplies you'd need are cheap picture frames (5 x 7). I got mine at the Dollar Tree..in a pewter grey color. Vellum paper--cheapest at an office supply store. And Duct Tape.
You'll need 4 frames per centerpiece.
Scan and print out 4 different photos in 5 x 7 size onto the vellum paper, then cut out each picture.

Remove backing and glass from frame carefully so the little metal doo-dads stay in place.
Then tape two frames together from the inside.

Place picture inside the frame..

And then the glass behind it to hold it in place, using the little doo-dads to keep it secure (what are they called, anyway?)..

It will be the opposite of how you normally insert a picture

Then stand the picture frames so as to make a square.

I put a battery operated candle inside to illuminate the picture , but if you are careful.. since the glass is on the inside of the frame, I think it would be safe to use a votive candle in a glass holder instead.
I also think it would be neat to maybe use two pictures and then two quotes relating to the theme of the occasion!

Happy Birthday Steve!

Today is Steve's Birthday, and the thought recently occurred to me--not only is he the man of MY dreams--but he is the man of God's dream for me!

It has been proven to me over and over all these years...

...that he is truly my dream man. And not only that..

Steve strives so hard to make all of my dreams come true..when in reality the most important dream come true for me..

..happened when I married him almost 34 years ago!! :-)

Happy Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!
